What your records can show
One clock, no daylight saving
Time zone: AWST all year. Western Australia does not use daylight saving. Perth is 3 hours behind Melbourne and Sydney while those cities are on AEDT, and 2 hours behind otherwise. Worth remembering if your bookkeeper or other rooms are in the eastern states.
Perth public holidays in 2026
Dates specific to Western Australia that can fall inside a billing month.
These are the 2026 dates the WA Government page lists, which also notes that Karratha and Port Hedland observe the King’s Birthday on 3 August instead. Check the official calendar before you plan around them.
- Monday 2 March
- Labour Day
- Monday 1 June
- Western Australia Day
- Monday 28 September
- King’s Birthday
SuiteBook charges each booked session under the arrangement that applied that day. Whether a holiday changes what you charge is a matter for your agreement with each specialist.
Payroll tax and medical centres in Western Australia
The Western Australian Government, Department of Treasury and Finance, publishes guidance on how payroll tax may apply to payments made under arrangements between medical centres and practitioners. SuiteBook is a billing tool. It does not tell you whether payroll tax applies to your arrangements, and using it does not make your suite compliant.

- Contractor payments: Payroll Tax Employer Guide (page last updated 16 February 2024)
- Test it describes
- Whether a worker is a common law employee, judged on the totality of the relationship
- Factors it lists
- Control and direction, working to achieve a given result, an independent business, ability to delegate, and integration with the principal
- Harmonisation
- The guide says WA is not harmonised with the other jurisdictions on the treatment of contractors
- The guide says payments to contractors can be liable for payroll tax where the relationship is akin to employer and employee.
- It says no single test is conclusive. The totality of the relationship decides.
- It points to Revenue Ruling PT 6 on subcontracting arrangements and employment agents, and says employers who are unsure can ask for a determination.
- Get your own legal, tax and accounting advice about how your arrangements are structured.
Billing software only. No clinical records and no Medicare claiming. Not legal, tax or financial advice.
Perth questions
Does SuiteBook decide whether payroll tax applies to my Perth suite?
No. It records and bills the arrangements you have made. Read the WA Government’s contractor-payments guide and get your own advice, or ask the WA revenue office for a determination as the guide describes.
Does SuiteBook list Perth consulting rooms for rent?
No. SuiteBook is software for the operator of the rooms. It is not a listing site and does not take bookings from the public.
Can I use it if I also have rooms in another state?
The demo covers one set of rooms. Support for groups with rooms at more than one site is planned, not in the demo yet.
